Aga's quest for Poker Superstardom continues!

NEXT IT IS IRELAND AND AN ENCOUNTER WITH HER MENTOR

Top television presenter and boxing champion Agnieszka Rylik became the first Pole to make a big impact on a top international poker tournament back in October after finishing runner-up in her opening heat of the world famous PartyPoker Late Night Poker tv tournament. Â Aga made the semi-finals and finished 5th "“ meaning she finished 12th in the world in a field that featured all the world's best multimillionaire players who spend the majority of their time in Las Vegas. This was amazing considering it was her first major tournament and that she was a beginner. She was so much of a beginner that at the start bookmakers PartyBets.com rated her as the 100/1 biggest outsider!

By showing such potential, Rylik has now been invited by world leading and universally trusted online poker website PartyPoker.com to take part in the PartyPoker.com Irish Poker Championship 2008, to be held at the fabulous Radisson Hotel & Spa, Galway, Ireland, from Jan 3 to Jan 6, 2008. This tournament will be broadcast to millions around the world and will be first shown on RTE, Ireland's main national tv station and potentially in Poland too.

A PartyPoker.com spokesman said: "Aga packed such a punch at Late Night Poker that it is only natural that she should take a further step to becoming the first Polish poker superstar. We are happy to support her and fund her trip to our top Irish Poker Championship tournament. Anybody can qualify online for as little as $3 and win a place at the tournament worth $5000 but Aga is an exception. If we didn't sign her up someone else would have. After beating one of the world's most dangerous players, Dave "The Devilfish" Ulliott at Late Night Poker she should do very well in this historic and prestigious tournament."

Aga will again take her place amongst a field of world class players but one meeting could be more significant than others. Before entering her first tournament she took lessons from Mike Sexton, one of the best poker faces and teachers in the world. Now she could go head-to-head with the American poker legend who helped discover her gift for the game.

"I am looking forward to seeing Mike again," - said Aga. "He taught me so much but if he is at the table with me I will be trying hard to knock him out!"

Aga will also take on World Series of Poker winners Ciaran O'Leary, Noel Furlong and Michael Keiner, as well as Padraig Parkinson, Scott Gray, Bruno Fitoussi, Rehne Pederson and Jan Sørensen. All are very famous players on the European and American poker circuit. In the Late Night Poker tournament Aga could have won a share of $325,000 but this time the total amount available to won could be up to $1 million. Poland's finest is now in the high-rollers league.

Galway is a lively party place that offers great entertainment, colourful characters and history but Aga's focus is only on the poker.

"I'm ready for this. I already think I have improved since my first television appearance. The challenges keep getting bigger and bigger but I'm ready to do my country proud," - she added.
